Dear Lake Lackawanna Residents,

We would like to welcome everyone to a new and exciting year at Lake Lackawanna.  We have plans and ideas in the works to make our lake an even more beautiful and tranquil place to live and be a part of.  We hope to see all of our past members return and welcome anyone who would like to become a new member.

Lake Lackawanna had begun a process last year of obtaining a low interest loan for $250,000 from the DEP.  We have all of the paperwork in and are ready to proceed with the Save the Lake Project.  Plans are in place and permits are in the works to start dredging out sections of the lake. The purpose of this project will greatly increase the quality of our water and extend the life of the lake.  This project will also allow our members to use and enjoy a much larger area of the lake.  We will be using Allied Biological once again for our weed treatment program.  Allied Biological has helped with designating the most crucial areas in need of attention and will be able to best suit our needs for the upcoming season.

Watch the website, lakelackawanna.com, for the date of our beach “kick off” party and all of our other fun activities. Swim lessons will be available for all paid members.  A special water safety/awareness class will be held this year on June 21st for ages 4-13 to familiarize our children with living near the lake.  Our swim instructor is CPR certified and Red Cross trained, as are our lifeguards.

As always, our membership runs from April 1st to March 31st.  You can register for this season anytime before March 31st.  We will hold an open registration at the beach cleanup on May 3rd, and another at the beach kick off party on June 7th, (Visa and MasterCard accepted).

Our membership is still subject to a 7% sales tax charge mandated by the state.  This year we are instituting a $150.00 assessment on all memberships and maintenance to help fund the dredging project.  Again, this project will benefit everyone who lives in this community.  This is our lake and we are fighting to preserve our water quality, our community and our property values.

Lake Lackawanna is an excellent value, especially when you look at all of the amenities we offer, compared to other lakes in the area.  We strongly urge everyone to join so we may continue to make improvements to our lake, beach, boat launch, and clubhouse.  All of these improvements will benefit everyone in the community and have a direct impact on our home values.  We are all friends and neighbors working hard to keep this association moving forward.  We encourage any suggestions or comments you may have to be sent to our email and we hope to be able to assist in any way we can or answer any questions you may have.  We ask everyone to send us an email address whether you are a member or not so we can keep everyone advised of any changes or plans we have pertaining to our association.

Please review all of the material in our membership packet as there have been some changes made.  We hope you all had a cozy winter and look forward to seeing everyone this summer.

Sincerely,

Thomas Falleni
